Philippine Army Museum and Library Foundation, Incorporated

The present Philippine Army Museum is a replicate of the old building that was formerly located corner MacArthur Avenue and Memorial Road in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Makati. The old museum was conceptualized only in 1977 and was formally inaugurated in 1979 under the supervision and of the Army Historical and Research Division. The old building was an important part of Philippine Military history as it was used by the Americans as headquarters of its Philippine Division under Brigadier General Lough then later as the headquarters of the Philippines Expeditionary Forces to Korea and much later as office of the RP-US Mutual Defense Board.
Three years after the EDSA Revolution, the PAML was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission and became a foundation. The secret military tunnels traversing in and out of the Fort were assimilated by the PAMLFI and then opened to the public. The year was 1989 and the rumors regarding the tunnels finally came to an end. The tunnels were real, built by the US Army during their Fort McKinley days. The main entry to the tunnels was located at the back of the old PAMLFI.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Act of 1992 paved the selling of Fort Andres Bonifacio save 100 hectares of prime real estate. “The Fort” commercial and high rise residential area came to be and the historical former McKinley Fort then Fort Andres Bonifacio was reduced to its present size and state.
The Philippine Army Museum and Library Foundation, Inc. was dismantled and rebuilt piece by piece to its present site. The Museum “tells” the story of the Philippine Army from 1898 up to the present. It is open from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday to Friday. For $1.50 one will be taken on a tour of the museum by a civilian. The PAMLFI is located at the Philippine Army Complex, Lawton Avenue, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Makati City.
