Its population is now over 190 times what it was in the early 1900s, with the 1903 Census estimated the population at only 2,700 residents!

Even though Makati City's population is somewhat more than 500 thousand, during the day the population is believed to be over 1,000,000 because of the numbers of individuals who go to the city to work, play and shop, particularly in the CBD / Central Business District.
